Onischuk and Pogonina are Moscow Open 2009 winners




International Chess Moscow Open 2009 festival taking place in Russian State Social University (January 31st Ц February 8th) has finished today on Sunday evening.

International Grandmaster Alexander Onischuk (USA) has won the main tournament of the festival. In final round his game with Sergey Tiviakov (NED) ended in a draw and he got 7.5 points from 9. Other competitors have lagged behind on 0.5 points. They also have finished the games in a draw and, scoring 7 points, divided 2nd - 6th places. Regarding the main additional index Ц average rating of FIDE competitors Ц silver was won by Sergey Tiviakov, bronze has got Ernesto Inarkiev (RUS). Ian Nepomniachtchij (RUS) and Alexej Korotylev (RUS) place got the forth and fifth places.

17 participants scored by 6.5 points. They have divided several places from 7th to 23rd. The tournament Open УAФ prize found is up to 3000000 rubles. The winner has got 500000 rubles.

Natalya Pogonona leaded in the female tournament УCФ. She defeated Marina Romanko and got 8 points among 9 and went one point ahead the opponent. Each of 5 players got 7 points: GMs Batuyang Mongontuul (Mongolia), Gu Xiaobing (China), Svetlana Matveeva, and also IM Tatyana Molchanova and FIDE Master Valentina Gunina (all three from Russia). According to the additional indexes Tatyana Molchanova won silver and Svetlana Matveeva Ц bronze.

Prize fund of Open C was 700 000 Rubles. The winner won 150 000.†

Suren Poghosyan (Armenia) won tournament УPФ. In the last tour he won the next (8th on this tournament) battle with 8,5 among 9 points.

Silver has gone to Armenian player David Gevorgyan, who got 8 points. Sergei Vdovin (Russia) won Bronze. He also got 8 points but lagged according to additional index.†

Prize fund of Open ФBФ was 1 000 000 Rubles. The winner won 150 000.
